Mits VS-50609 Replaced Convergence IC but now have new problem(s)

After reading up on common Convergence IC failures and seeing symptoms like many others who have fixer their TVs this way, I replaced the Convergence IC in my VS-50609 and the the TV now works, however it's only in black and white (perfect convergence however).
S-Video and composite in both show the same thing... nice picture but no color. When in menu mode I see full colors on the menu options. Also, when I use the PIP function the thumbnail images are in full color (pulled from the same source- my DVD through either inputs).
I messed around with checking all of the interconnects after discovering the B&W issue, pulled and reseated all of them, and still same thing, and even worse, now the TV is acting funny on top of that- like locking up while in menu mode (requiring unplugging to power down).
I'd love to hear any suggestion as to where to look next.
