Panasonic dvd video recorder dmr-e75v ,dvd-r disabled

My panasonic dmr-e75v no longer recognizes new blank dvd-r discs.dvd ram discs work fine so do previously recorded dvd-r discs from the same machine but any new blank dvd-r discs used cause an error message"cannot read.please check the disc."the recording or editing of dvd-r seems to be disabled.any help would be appreciated
