I have a Samsung upconverting dvd player model: DVD-HD755 with the same problem/message. The only fix that I know of is I use the digital audio coax cable to my Yamaha receiver.
I just bought two of these dvd unit. I had the same problem. You have to play with it. Go to set up and change a few setting. I got it to work without any problem. Hope this help.
what kind of settings? there isnt much you can play with it. and ive fiddled with em.

You really have no taste in equipment, you just buy the cheapest stuff you can get and think that it is good quality just because it is the newest thing.
