Poor Quality Recording

I have a Panasonic E55 DVR, and I use the required DVD-RAM DVDs. I get poor quality (video sometimes pixilated and sometimes hesitates) when I record over a segment that I previously erased. Initial recording on a new DVD seems OK, but when I erase and then record something new, there is sometimes a problem in certain parts of the recording only.
During the warranty period, Panasonic authorized a new "RAM drive" which was installed by a repair facility, and still the same problem. I know that the speed affects the recording quality, but it shouldn't be this bad--besides, I usually use the automatic "fit" to chose the best speed and fill the disk. Any clues? Thank you very much.

I had the same problem, it was cheap Optocrap RAM discs. Never had a problem with a Panasonic RAM disc.
