Need Help getting rid of brightness irregularity when hooking DVD player to TV/VCR combo

I really need help here...
I own a Toshiba SDK740 and have it hooked up a TV/VCR combo that has the audio and video jacks. When I play certain DVDs, the copywright protection comes in and disrupts the brightness. How do I hook up the DVD player so this problem stops?
