Connecting DVD-Recorder with CableCard

I have a quick question. I will be connecting my cable through the Cablecard slot on my HDTV. I also have a DVD-Recorder. Should I run the Rf cable through the DVD-R, then to the HDTV? Alternatively, should I split the RF cable and run one to the HDTV and the other line to the DVD-R? Obviously, I want to maximize the HD signal to the TV.

Thanks in advance!

You should split the cable and send the DVD signal to the TV using composite cables. If your DVD sends out a signal through the coax port, your TV will not get the full range of channels when the DVD is playing (or possibly even if it is on).
