I'm new to hdtv and just bought a crt panasonic 26" hdtv moniter. I haven't bought a receiver yet, but I was wondering if I could still get the hd quality on dvds/video games. I'm using an xbox for my dvd player, and have hooked that up to the tv. Is there any way to make the games/movies HD?

Basically what I'm saying is that can I make dvds/games HD, or change the resolution, without a receiver.

I have a HD ready TV Phillips , 34PT8322, will it support progressive scan from DVD player?
