Good evening, I was wondering, is it a bad idea to wall mount, say a 37" Panasonic Plasma w/o having studs in the walls, and just using anchors? The building is a pre-war apartment building w/dry wall I imagine. (the flaky stuff w/chicken wire inside) Are they any specific wall mounts in existance that are used for this purpose? Thank you!

I was in the same situation. I'm in a very old building where they don't use studs in walls. I had my 50" plasma and mount ready to install when I realized I couldn't find a stud. So what I did was...

I got a 2'x2'x.75" ply wood board and sandwiched the wall with the wall mount. My mount kit uses a large metal plate... if you don't have something like that, I would suggest getting 2 of those ply wood boards for both sides.
It's very sturdy... I can hang on it (200lbs) without a budge.
