Hookup, TV dishnetwork dvr and RCA DVD player together. HOW

Greetings, my setup a Mitsubishi CK 31302 TV dish network DVR and an RCA DVD RC5220P player not hooked up. First happy belated THANKSGIVING. Over the weekend my bro hooked up my DVD player it worked but my dishnetwork DVR only 1 remote worked the other nothing. My bro's hookup trial and error Yes my DVD player to work but only one remote from the DVR worked. I was told from dishnet work via phone it needs to be hooked up differently, thats why I'm here, need suggestions ? currently 2 cables from floor 1 goes to spliter which then connects both cables to - dvr TV2 satelite Input connections. The othe floor cable connections go to TV1 CH 3-4 cable connection. The RCA jacks from TV1 the Yellow White and Red cable goes to TV input connections. Thats it How else to hookup for DVD player. Thanks
