the 8300 is supplied by our local cable co. and must be provisioned by the cable co to receive any pay channels. They can also block all channels if they so choose, ie not paying your bill. ...so i would suggest you check with your cable company before purchasing the dvr. All digital, hd channels, along with hisp teir channels must be purchased.

how do u check the firware when i hit power (to turn off the cable box) - then i hit select and nothing happens?
