New member Username: FigjamPost Number: 3 Registered: Nov-05 | Looking @ LCDTV that does not have an included ATSC tuner. What will I need to receive HD broadcasts? Do I really need an ATSC Tuner, or can I just use my existing digital cable box I got from the Cable Co.? Also, I plan on playing a crap load of Xbox360; Will I have to run the system through an external tuner to get HD transmission from Xbox to LCDTV, or does the Xbox automatically transmit HD image?? |

X over PS Unregistered guest | No. Burden is for external scaler if want true hi def not any tv out now with tuner included. Let me start over. Almost all tvs out today do 540p even though says 720p. This not hi def using true definition since the vertical resolution must be at least 720p. Problem is cheap components in tvs that you get at bestbuy, circuitcity, etc and many cable boxes. Complete trasy. Only tvs that have motion adaptive deinterlacing example sony sxrd give true hi def. Problem is these sets cost sh!t load. Unless you an videophile, get an cheaper lcd for less than 2 grand. You receive hd from digital cable box even though not true hd. No need to get tuner built in unless you want over air hd. Xbox to tv has same problem. True hd need expensive scaler but you not notice "missed" resolution by running direct. In other post, meant lumagen not microsoft but like said too expensive. Okay, rereading what wrote and is confusing as hel. This link explains better: http://members.aol.com/ajaynejr/hdtvnot.htm Better yet, forget all this. Too confusing. Get lcd <2000 bucks, included tuner not needed if have digital cable box (but most likely it has it due to new rules, hook Xbox direct into lcd, you one happy man. |
