I saw it at circuitcity looks good.
These few days owing to thanksgiving and all they have the sale going on and is available for around $2300. I am in Portland Oregon so if any suggestions here let me know.

Is there someone who has bought it and have been using it?
Does it have the hd4 or hd3 chip(I asked the sales rep at circit city and he gave back the most bewildered look I have ever seen in my life) and how does the regular programming(no HDTV) looks on it besides the HDTV(and how about that as well?)

I did not see any rainbow efect but my girl friend did, ah well maybe it is better this way atleast she won't bug me to switch to american idol any more ;-)

Lots of us have that model. It's really a nice set.

Don't pay too much.

They have dropped the chip designations, but it's an improved version of the HD3 with faster mirror switching and a 5th gen light engine that provides a higher contrast ratio. It also has an air bearing frictionless color wheel.

My regular programming is Direct TV and it looks really nice. My free ED/HD digital networks come from a UHF/VHF off-air antenna and the quality is incredible. My pay HD is Direct TV and is equaly incredible.

Check out this link for free ED/HD in your area.
Just put in your zip.

The "rainbow" effect has been virtually eliminated. It takes a certain white on dark scene with ambient light and darting eyes to see any trace of a color tripplet with this model.

Oh...American Idol is a free HD Fox digital network program, so, she might make you switch over anyway! hehe
