I just purchased this monitor. I am told it will understand up to 1080i but will output only 720p. Will this output change with the devices I have attatched to it? I plan on run an xbox360 through it and some games will be 1080i. Later I plan on getting tivo and whatever hdtv receiver is needed. Dont know if it is one and the same though at this point. What I am really wondering is, am I stuck with only the 720p output? Thanks for any help on this. Anyone else own one yet? Great deal on newegg.com currently with rebate. Lowest price I have found yet.
If I can rephrase a bit, what happens when a 720P monitor receives a 1080i signal. Answer- it downscales to 720P, the top native capability of the display. 1080i and 720P signals are pretty close in picture quality by the way. When true 1080P becomes standard, the difference may increase quite a bit.
I don't know anything specific about the Niko you are mentioning.

I didn't post price because I didn't know if it was against the forum policy. Also I wasn't sure if I could say where I found the lowest price. Let me know if these are allowed or if I have violated the policy. THanks
Yes. It is saying exactly what I said. It will receive a 1080i signal and display it as a 720p signal if you set it up that way ( which would be best for this set receiving a 1080i signal) As you know, the "i" stands for interlaced and the "p" stands for progressive. So your TV will use its native deinterlacer chip to deinterlace the 1080i signal and display it as 720P. Hope that helps. I really don't see this as a huge problem personally, but perhaps others would disagree.
Thanks again for the quick and helpful response. I am not really going to notice the difference too much I suppose. Anything is better than standard TV I guess. I will post a review on newegg.com once I get the monitor and try it out. There were 3 reviews there already and seemed very positive. Thanks again.
