Looking for very basic information on televisions

I don't know anything about televisions and am looking to get informed. Is there a guide somewhere that will explain the differences between all the different televison technology out there?
In the mean time, maybe someone can answer this :
My brother in law would like to replace his projection tv (i think he currently has 43') that he bought last year (new) with something better. I think the only thing that is a must is that it should be atleast 36'. I know money is not a problem for him so maybe someone can recommend something. Is plasma supposed to be the best?

Thanks,
Bingy

for the money plasma is not the way to go.
i cant recommend CRT's unless you are short of
cash. Check out the micro displays, LCD, DLP,
LCos. You should be able to get one of those for
4000. (60"). They are all sleek with great
picture quality. you can check out www.hometheaterspot.com i dont like the forum
personally nor would i support it by paying dues
but you can sort through the info. They delete
your posts if they dont agree with it or like it.
too totalitarian for me.
