I've got an older Toshiba TV. The speakers sound like they're shot (crackling, etc) BUT - when I plugged in external speakers - they sounded exactly the same way. AND when we watch a DVD - the TV speakers sound fine - it's driving me crazy! Any suggestions would be helpful.

I guess the crackling noise occurs when you are watching something picked up by your antenna input?
It could be a tuner problem or something else related to providing a sound feed from the tuner to the audio section of your television. - Reinhart
