What Resolution inputs can the Sharp LC-45 LCDs really accept?

Sharp seems too coy on this.

In their manuals for the LC-45GD7U (& the 6U) they most they say is:
In "Manual--
Broadcasts in formats other than
480i will be converted and
displayed in the 1080i format.
With 480i broadcasts you can
change the screen size to the
size of your choice.
All broadcasts will be converted
and displayed in the 1080i
format."

In "Auto--
All broadcasts will be converted
and displayed in the 1080i
format"

[An aside, for computer input, 1920x1280 is blaringly omitted as a supported input resolution-- but that is discussed elsewhere.]

[And, not that it matters in this context, they say the set can not convert 480p and 720p from interlace to progressive (duh!).]

So, no where do they say that they will accept 1080i as input!!??

Are the negotiating 720p (or something) on the HDMI and then upconverting?

Richard

BTW,Sharp technical support does not answer my e-mail query.
