yeah it's a sony kde-50xs955..... aparently they won't replace because they need to be clustered not spread out. the biggest pain is that I have to take a day off work because sony repair shops in MN are all m-f & 9-5...
JUST AN FYI FOR ANYONE WITH A SIMILAR PROBLEM. Sony won't do a ****ing thing for you when you have this. I would need 6 in a 5" radius. I have had 2 more since this last post. What is my screen going to look like by then? Looks like $6500 down the drain and a new DLP/SXRD for me.... very iffy on the SXRD because it's another Sony tho......
How noticable is this when you watch movies? Obviously its a stand out on a white screen. I am curious. I'll tell you straight out that pixels are imbedded in the glass structure and there is no fix except glass replacement. Sony doesnt make their own glass anymore as you likely know.
Just an general FYI- Panasonic as a manufacturer has the most liberal return policy for dead pixels and the highest QA for manufacturing.
Obviously Costco has the best reseller return policy on all plasma screens. ( Lifetime no questions asked unless they recently changed).
It's just as if I had taken a black sharpie marker and drew on the screen. I exagerated the dots on the above picture to make them visible because jpeg compression doesn't show up very well.
