The bulb on my RCA DLP HD50LPW162 burned out and has not been replaced due to national back-order. So, RCA has offered to replace my 162 with the newer model HD50LPW175. Should I take the replacement or wait for a new bulb? Please help!

David, the W175 is an oustanding model with a 7-segment color wheel and great contrast ratio. I wouldn't hesitate.

It uses wobulation technology, it should not have as sharp a picture as your 162 which used a HD2+ light engine. However it is a better looking set form an asthetic perspective, has an HDMI input and is cablecard ready. You must decide for yourself. It has a MSRP of $2499 but can be ourchased at Best Buy for $1899, see the link below.

Personally I like this unit for the price it is a very good buy. You should stop by a local store and see the picture prior to making your final decision.

Here is a very detailed review by Sound & Vision Magazine:

RandyM and fx, thanks for the help. I plan to stop by my local Best Buy and check out the 175 before making my final decision.

Cheers.
