TV is JVC HD-ILA Z52
DVD Player is a Denon 2910 outputing 720p.

The HDMI picture quality is better in every way. Colors are cleaner, image is crisper, and overall more lifelike than the component hookup.

Only problem is the black areas have some weird pixelization that's 4x worse than on component. The advantages weigh out the disadvantages and it is much worse in some movies than others. Older, darker movies it is ALMOST better to watch in component.

Is the Kodak filter mod my only solution?

Can the problem be due to digital noise being introduced somewhere?

Is it the HDMI cable? (Monster)
