All,
I'm confused about something and hope that one of you might help. I'm getting ready to cut a deal on a new HD TIVO unit from DTV and I'm hearing some buzz about a possible need for a separate antenna to receive local channel HD broadcasts.

I presently have local channels in SD through my current DTV deal. I guess I don't understand why there might be a need for a separate antenna?

What am I missing?

if that's the case you don't need an HD antena, because you are receiving HD signal from your HD satellite receiver.

you'll need HD antena when you're not getting local channels from your DTV.

so basically you're not missing anything bro....you're good to go.

Not sure what the other poster is referring to. To receive local HD channels you currently need an OTA. DTV is planning on providing local HD coming in the next 3 months for 12 initial markets. However, this will be with a new compression algorithm (MPG4) and require a new receiver. DTV is promising to replace your non-DVR HD receiver for free by the end of this year. TIVO and DVR HD receivers will not be replaced for some time.

Send an email to DTV support they might be able to help.
