DVD Setup - TV doesn't have Input 1 or 2 Channels. What to channel to use?

We purchased a Panasonic DVD-S29P-S DVD player. Our tv is a Sylvania Superset model RLK330 W01. The tv doesn't have channels Input 1 or Input 2 like our other televisions - how do we set the DVD player to play on a different open channel? We tried Channel 1 as it's open, but the DVD didn't appear on the screen. Do we need to program something on the DVD player to select another channel? Is the DVD player autoset for channels input 1 or 2? Thanks.

If you connected the DVD with RCAs or s-video, the TV has auxilary inputs. The remote or TV should have an input or auxilary or TV/video button. If not go through the channels till you get there.

If you are using the digital coax or TOSLink, the only way to get 5.1, you need to go into the player's audio menus and set them for 5.1. They should say Dolby Digital or stream.
