I don't own it but i've seen it in a side-by-side comparision with the TH-42PX50U/P and for a low resolution unit it was able to receive a clean 1080i signal thru the component input even though it was displaying it at 480p {DVD native resolution}.

It's the perfect choice if you're planning to use it for watching movies and playing video games {yes, according to Panasonic, you can now play video games on these new models with precaution, of course.} if i were to purchase a low resolution Plasma for my movie room, this model will be on the top of my list.

Be aware the TH-42PD50U/P can and will receive digital broadcasts thru the air and/or satellite/cable receivers, but WON'T display then at their native resolutions of 720p and/or 1080i.

Be on the lookout for dead or stuck pixels. These tend to be more frequent on Panasonic flat panels than any other brand.

Interesting point that is the first I have heard of that. I have heard that Panasonic has a better policy for pixels that are out, anyone know if this is true?

I was very surprise to see that one "stuck" pixel on my 22" LCD., Just because it is a Panasonic and everyone seems to talk about how "great" these Pannys are {LCDs or Plasmas}.

I was expeciting top grade quality. It wouldn't had surprise me if i saw that stuck or dead pixel on my Samsung or Philips which tend to be trashed along with all the other brands on http://www.avsforums.com/ in favor of the hyped Panasonics, but i should had guess this would happen with one of my sets, never though it would be on a Panasonic.

The real deal on Panasonic's so-called top quality is just a marketing hype. They couldn't buy the promotion they get from the biased audio and video forums who's members are totally dedicated to convince everyone how great Panasonic is by their so-called "self experiences". To me Samsung win the war on performance, quality and inputs for LCDs, there's no doubt about that.

According to the dealer, dead or stuck pixels will dissapear within a few weeks. For what the specialist told me, Panasonic will address the pixel issue individually. Either way, i will take my set back for a exchange.

The limited features on my 22" Panasonic are great and enough for the location on which it's installed. I'm glad i didn't paid an arm and a leg for it.

To anyone interested in Panasonic:

Well, Panasonic did addressed the pixel issue, unfortunately for me they won't do nothing about it. And i can't exchange it for another unit either, Costco is sold out on these. I'll get another brand with less marketing hype and more quality control.

Even though mine is installed on my master bath and not many {people} enter there to notice it, you have to consider quality is priority regardless the location these TVs are installed and who might notice it. You pay for top-grade 100% trouble-free products, not 99.9% trouble-free.

I'm somewhat dissapointed in Panasonic, last year i got a NIB 20" Triple Play Flat CRT for my game room and it was missing all the literature and the remote control, even though they replace it you have to think how come such a tiny detail be missed with Panasonic?, it makes you wonder "what if" their Plasmas or micro display go defective after the warranty expire and cannot be repair? No one is obligated to purchase a third party extended service plan to cover Panasonic's lack of product quality.

Beware, do not take every favorable reviews you read as your ultimate decision to purchase, investigate further, if possible, try to see the model you want to buy prior any internet purchase, if you have doubts, keep searching until YOU are satisfied.

It's unfortunate such a prestigious brand has fallen from it's place, i just hope the 37" PX50U i got last week doesn't arrive with such quality problems...
