I want to buy a VCR/DVD combo unit that will allow me to transfer SVHS tapes (off-the-air recordings) to DVD. The friendly folks at Best Buy and Circuit City tell me there is no such unit presently available. Is this true?
Do a Google search. None come to mind. However, I agree with David.

Thanks for the inputs. As an alternative, can I connect my Sharp SVHS to my HP Media Center PC (it has an SVHS front receptacle and a DVD +/- DVD writer) and transfer directly to a DVD or download to the hard drive and then copy to a DVD?

I too have SVHS tapes I want to convert to DVD. I'm willing to buy separate machines but can you recommend some? And how to I connect them?
