They did not say Copywrited material. They said "copy protected". That is a different story.

I just purchased it as well and it does not up upconvert any store bought dvd as they are "copy protected" discs. But really no lose, upconversion of divx does absolutely nothing to enhance the video quality at all anyways so I would asume the same is true even if it did allow upconversion of dvd video. I will be returning this for the cheaper version without the useless upconversion.

It only means it will not upconvert via the component connnection on copyrighted materials, all DVDs will upconvert regardless of copyrights via the HDMI connection!!!
