I have a JVC av48wp30 hdtv, and the convergence is totally messed up. I have sat here all day trying to fix it to no avail. Does anyone know the code, or what I have to do to reset it to factory specs? Not just to the user menu, but service menu too?

When you get that figured out...
could you help me with this brain tumor?

I have the same issue, but I think there are some components going bad rather than settings being off.

You can access the service by pressing:
- sleep timer
- and then video status (while keeping sleep timer pressed)

But again that didn't do anything for me.

Let me know where that goes (are you getting it fixed etc).

I turned it in to get fixed, so we'll see how it is once I get it back here on Sat.

Can you let me know what the issue they found was, i.e. did they change the STK392-110 chips (that take care of the convergence)?

Thanks!

The guy brought it back, and one of the convergence chips had burned out, but he needed to take it back because the red wouldn't match up at all with the blue or green, so we'll see what happens when it finally comes back.

Our set died over the weekend. The power light comes on but that is it. We have to push on off on the set several times to shut it down. It has a burning smell also. Any ideas of what the problem is?

not yet, they replaced the convergence chip, but the reds weren't matching up, so he had to bring it back in.

I was wondering if I could simply replace the convergence chips myself, but I guess it may turn out to be more than that.

That means you've pretty much been without that TV for 2 weeks or so?

That's a long time. Do you have a rough idea how much that will cost you?

From where I stand I'm starting to wonder if I should get a new TV altogether.
