Should I buy 720P or 1080P Samsung?

Hi,
Researching DLPs and really like the Samsung 56" series. Currently, the HL-R5677W is available which has 1280x720P resolution. The new models HL-R5668/78W series are due out in next couple months. They boast 1920x1080P resolution.

My question is it really worth waiting for the higher resolution? I read most HDTV is broadcast at 720, didn't find much about anything being broadcast in 1080P.

If you are interested, here is link to details on new Sammys:

Also, been reading lots on cable (TWC) vs. satelite (DirecTV). Still confused on which provides better overall quality of HD service.

Appreciate any input.
Thanks,
George

Sat beats cable hands down! CABLE SUCKS!
Cable has lousy standard def and the signal is inconsistant.
The Samsung SIR TS360 DTV/Terrestrial receiver is very nice!

Got the bucks? For twice the price the xHD3 chip is gonna be sweet!

For half that price the 5674 is the best with the HD2+ chip and no useless internal HD tuner or glitch filled CableCard technology.

Thanks for your feedback. Seems to be the consensus about cable. I also read that VOOM may be purchased by Dish? I have a couple of months, so will wait to determine if I go DirectTV vs. Dish.

Also, I will opt for a HD-DVR receiver as I have a PVR now and am addicted. Any thoughts on the DirectTV version: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/imagine/HDDVR.dsp

Thanks!
