OK, I just bought a Toshiba 62HM94 (it hasn't arrived yet). I also bought a Directv HD tuner with an HDMI interface. When I went to buy the HDMI-to-HDMI cable, I was dismayed at the $$$$ is cost. However, after searching for a while I found a site http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10231 that is selling 6ft gold-plated ones for $10.90. This is orders of magnitude cheaper than the other places I've seen. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with monoprice's cables. I never could figure out why DVI and HDMI cables are so expensive and for short distance I can't see why more expensive cables are necessary. We are talking about a digital cable, not a analog. If the 1's and 0's get there, there should be no difference. Anyone have any insight on monoPrice's cables?

I have never heard of the company or cables but if it's legit, then it's one heck of a deal. You are correct about digital signals. Expensive cables are not needed to tranfer ones and zeros. The only advantage of a higher priced cable would possibly be longevity. But then again if your not constantly plugging/unplugging the cable all the time, then that wouldn't be an issue.

If you decide to buy these cables, please write back on this forum and let everyone know how you like them.

I purchased them yesterday. As suggested, I will post a follow-up message when they arrive.

They look like Molex HDMI cables, I've been using them for about 2 months now and have no complaints about it. Using it with my 52HMX84 through the Sony 975v DVD player. Although I purchased it at Amazon for a bit more...;-(

I have used Molex to and I can say they are the same quality as Monster Cable. You can find them at Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html/002-5885637-2408023?%5Fencoding=UTF8&me=ALM JEE9BTGVCE

"All digital needs is to get there."

Yea...get there without an excessive bit error rate!

If you buy a cheap cable you better keep it short.
