1) For timer recordings, can the recorder be turned off once the timer has been set (like a VCR) or does the power have to stay on from the time it's set til the recording starts (manual doesn't say)
2) Are VR and VIDEO mode selected automatically? If not, how do you select them prior to recording? (I mainly plan/want to use video mode and DVD-R discs).
