DVD audio -- coaxial output using RCA audio cable

Anonymous
Sorry for the stupid question ... I've got a (new) Onkyo 600 and an (old) Apex 1500. I tried connecting the Apex to the Onkyo via the "coaxial" jacks, but was not successful. I currently only have plain old RCA cabling so I tried just using the white jack to connect. Should this work? I was unable to get any sound.

I've succesfully hooked up the DVD to the amp using just the analog left/right jacks but was hoping to get the digital audio hooked up. Will I need to buy a new cable for this?

Thanks.

The white ends of an RCA cable should work, but you will get better sound with a high quality 75 Ohm Digital RCA cable.

If you didn't get any sound, make sure both the Receiver and the DVD player have the coaxial option selected (enabled).

Silly Question - I am trying to find wiring diagrams to assist me in connecting my home cinema up. I have purchased some seperates and am having a really hard time connecting them correctly, especially the VCR. Can you assist me?
