Press and hold down the eject button eventually it will say "unlocked". Then you can release the eject button and repress to open the disc tray. Its a child lock feature. If you want to relock it just open the tray as normal. Then press and hold the eject button down again and it will close the disc tray and eventually say "locked" again.
