i have a 2-3years old sony proj hdtv. it doesnt have hdmi,dvi outlets. is there any point to buying a better dvd player with all the goodies when my tv doesnt have better technology on it. i have a old dvd player and was going to upgrade but then i thought about how my tv is older.

if you already have progressive scan, you cannot really improve the picture much, since you don't have DVI/HDMI input
if you don't have progressive scan, and move to progressive scan (nearly all units today basically) you will get a nice improvement
since you do have a true HD set, the next potential for a huge improvement will arrive next in fall of 2005 when Toshiba introduces the world's first HI DEF dvd player, ie HD-DVD
