i have a philips widescreen 34" hdtv. it is about a year old. i want to invest in one of these up-conversion dvd players, but i have to have a dvi input. my hdtv does not. i heard that the dvi or the hdmi connection is much better than the component. has anyone else had this problem? is there anything i can do to my hdtv to make it dvi compatible without getting a new tv? help?

Not from a 480p source such as a DVD. Your Phillips wil upscale just fine if you output 480i from your DVD thru your component cables. You are not missing out on some incredible improvement in picture quality.

No.
