new plasma Pioneer 1120hd Elite and not too happy

Bought a new top of the line Pioneer 1120HD Elite
the HD picture quality is very nice but the digital quality is worst than my old tube Sony TV.
Is this normal??????

actually my old 36" tube Sony XBR digital quality is almost as good as HD quality.
