Have you bought a 963SA lately and had a problem with the color when the player is swithed to progresive scan?
I have tried 3 players in a row and they all have the same problem.... Some DVD menus are blue..but the film plays fine. (Austin Powers, Blade II, Lion King) Some DVD menus are blue..and the film is blue. (The Princess Bride, Shrek) Some DVD's play fine. (Star Wars Episode I or II)
Problem does not occur in Interlaced Mode.
Called Phillips..still waiting for a call back.
Has anyone had or seen a similar problem?
Techie Tidbit...Wheneven the picture is blue, if I switch the Pr and Pb the colors are correct, however if I switch back to interlaced all DVD's color will be jacked until I put the Pr and Pb back into the proper position.
FYI - As a control I've tried the above scenario on 2 RPG's and a Plasma. When I plug in my P.O.S Panasonic DVDS55 everything is fine.

First off not one of your players is bad. And let me tell you it took me 4 players, and 3 calls to Phillips to figure this one out.
The solution is simple...Go into the settings menu, find the 'PscanOut' and change it from 'unprocessed' to '480p'. There you go.
Now why Phillips includes a switch on the back for progressive scan and a setting in the preferences is beyond me. And why some DVDs work and others don't is still insane. And, yes I know that setting is not in the manual. And yes I know the Phillips customer service rep didn't even mention it. It seems that your model number is probably a DVD936SA41, it seems Phillips has been updating the software on their units, but not updating the user manuals. Go Figure.
Well enjoy a great player. Too bad Phillips quality control sucks azz.

My Panasonic DVD-S55S has the same issue... there are two settings you have to change to get progressive scan, and it took me about an hour reading through their cryptic manual to figure it out.
