S-Video or Component

I'm new to this so I'm hoping someone could give me some advice.

I've got a dvd player with both component video output and s-video output. I plan to buy an A/V receiver with component video switching. However, I have an older 29" TV that only has s-video inputs.

Now my question:
Should I hook-up my dvd player to the receiver using component video or with s-video? Considering the fact that the signal will eventually be transferred to my TV via S-video.

Am I wasting money getting component cables since the signal will be downconverted anyways?

Thanks.

For today use the S-Video which will mimic the final signal BUT putting a higher quality signal into the receiver MAY give you a better signal into the S-Video conversion. If you plan to upgrade the TV someday, use the components. That will give you the best signal the deepest into the conversion process.
