Are the video DAC's bypassed if HDMI inputs are used?

With the HDMI DVD's out now, (assuming you are using the HDMI input) does it matter what the specs are on the video DAC's ie: 108Mhz/12-bit in the case of the Sony NS975V or 27Mhz/10-bit for the LG 418?
Thanks

There is an error in your post. 108Mhz/12-bit is the audio DAC specs, where as the 27Mhz/10-bit is the Video processing specs.
Anyway, to answer your question, the DVD player reads the digital signal and sends it via the HDMI/DVI out as a pure digital signal for the TV to convert. No DAC takes place until the signal is processed by the TV. If the DVD player's converter is vastly superior to that in the TV, you will get better results having the DVD player do the DAC.

Thanks for your reply. I have a 46" Samsung DLP so I think the HDMI direct should work out fine. BTW the new Sony NS975V does have a 108Mhz/12-bit Video DAC and has a 192kHz/24-bit Audio DAC. I believe the release date is 10/22/04.
