Hey, i just bought a new receiver and im having troubles with the woofer "my old sub". Im using the front L and R speaker on the receiver to connect to the sub with speaker wire. But now im getting some audio out of the sub and not a whole lot of bass? I have 2 imputs only on the sub...2 positives and 2 negative. Im using a Sony 7.1 Channel Home Theater A/V Receiver. How do i go about in setting this up correctly?

Make sure you configure your Sony's setup L&R speakers to "LARGE" and "NO" or "NONE" to subwoofer. Unless your other speakers (if any) can produce some serious bass, set them to "SMALL".

Back in the olden days when most subs were passive, they were usually hooked up this way:

Ah yes, I see from re-reading your post you have only one speaker level input on the sub. You have to double wire the RL speaker terminals with wires to the mains and the sub. Should work as long as the load of the three speakers aren't too much for the Sony. Blast at your own risk.

Follow my setup configuration above.
