i just purchaced War diamond 9.4s. sound great with music but when i use with surround sound they sound a bit muffled. i have them hooked up as front speakers (no other surround, just two front and a center). i have center and front set and small. if i turn the center way down (-8) and turn vol up i can hear them better, but they are still not as clear as when used just as 2 channel.

sony STR-DG510 5.1

i have been messing with it..i am a bit clueless. it actually might be better with an actual dvd. i think my major issues are when we use the reciver/speakers to listen to tv.

i am assuming set up glitch.. i have playing around with settings for a couple of days. it is possible that the speakers work better with a blu ray disk. my problems have been more when we are trying to listen to the tv. both of the hook ups are optical. one is straight from the tv to reciver and the other is blu ray to reciever (which is better..i think). maybe the tv is not processing the audio as well as it should (or able) the tv is a samsung dlp.

Wow I hope you cut and pasted all of that and twice no less (please you only have to post in one location)

Do you have a cable/satellite box?

yes cut/paste

i assume you mean in audio and home theater? trying to figure out the problem. i have the unfortunate qualities of being obsessive yet not very talented.

my bad.. i am new to forum edict. i was not sure if same people looked at both. issue seems to fit both categories.

i do have cable (cox) :-)

Answering two strings at once is beyond my multitasking abilities!! It gets too confusing, and yes, this post sure could go in either place.

I think the answer has already been posted in that if you take the audio out of your cable box instead of the TV you may be happier with the results. Once that is done make sure the volume of the cable box is set properly then you can play with the soundfields on the Sony receiver to find the one you like best.

Oh yes, and one last thing, please let us know how succesful this has been for you.

I agree with jim here I thought your source was only dvd I didn't ask you how the hook up was.

Does cable box have a digital out?

make sure volume on tv is down so no echo.
