Hi all,
Not too satisfied with the way the installers set up my last home surround sound system. (think they took the easy way out)
Looking for new ideas...
I would like to drop my front L and R speakers bc they are too high and put them by the sides of my tv in the wall. Not too sure what i can do with the center speaker. Thinking about maybe putting it directly overheard in my living room or above my tv in the center.

I also bought a soundbar just in case as another option to put under my tv. only problem is once i put this on brackets it will stick out farther than my tv and wont be flush. looking for some creative ideas on what to do. please see pics for references

There is always more than one way to go. You could reuse the round inwalls next to the rectangle TV if want a real bad look but little equiptment cost. You still have to pay to move them and patch and paint the wall. You could put them in the ceiling but that may not improve the sound. Or you could just leave them there and possible use them as new height channels that are now being offered on new receivers. Then we would need new speakers like these,

or you could install some rectangler inwalls around the TV ,center on top.
I don't have much of an opion about the sound bar but I think that it would be better served in a bedroom or small room set up.

Greetings Chris,

What is behind the wall that the TV is mounted to? There must have been some reason that the speakers were mounted so high and by the looks of it I would call it taking the easy way out!

the centre chanel, since the tv is mounted so high, should be below and not above the TV. also the front speakers should be next to the tv and on the same height as the TV is mounted to, this is because if the speakers are way below the tv the the sound would be anything but natural. the surrounds should be even with the couch on which you are seated, about 4 feet above seating level and also looking directly at each other. this is how you can check if your room is great for home theatre, stand in the centre of your room and clap loudly, make sure that all windows, doors are closed before doing this, if by chance you hear a reverb then you would get a flat and rigid response from the speakers even at low volume levels, if not then i guess my friend you would have to part with the rugs or the drapes. check this for yourself and it would help to a great extent. hope this helps
