I am getting a new sound card for my PC.. I need some advice on how i should hook it up. This sound card has SUPER LOW THD.. So i don't know if hooking it up to my receiver will just add more THD and just not make it sound the way its saposta. Will hooking it up to a sub woofer give me better quality sound? I dont know i am having a HARD time understanding how all this stuff works togeather despite hours of research.... I put a pic on the 3 set up modes that i can choose from... Can anyone tell me what one will be the best????? PLEASE HELP>...

Greetings Penguin,

The best sound would come from option 2. I could go into some detail as to why but by the sound of your question I won't unless requested.

I was kinda thinking that... I got a question for you. Since this sound card im getting is saposta be really good and have almost none existent THD, will sending the coaxial signal threw the receiver degrade the sound cards quality at all when the sound comes back out of the receiver to the speakers? Or does it just bypass all the receiver stuff since its digital ? Thanks for your help.. You really threw me a fish on this one...

Penguin,

Another fish for you:

MMM, what would be the best way to describe this one? THD, or Total Harmonic Distortion, would be one of many numbers used these days to thoroughly confuse the customer. Simply put, these days THD is nearly irrelevant as it is so low as to be unable to be detected by the human ear. Put in a more complicated way:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_harmonic_distortion

Put in a little more understandable way:

Any old way you look at it any component you put into the system will add to the THD but not to any extent that significantly affects your enjoyment of it!
