Hi I am looking for a new receiver, I have a pretty subpar system right now, Kenwood vr407, pair of klipsch sf-1 some bose bookshelves, and a sony sub. I am looking for a new receiver and then will slowly upgrade my speakers. I have a friend who is willing to hook me up with some infinity kappa 8.1 and I need a receiver that can handle them. Thanks
Just a personal opinion but I would start with the speakers! Always more bang for the buck and your receiver isn't really all that bad, or at least it will have no trouble "handling" any speakers that you get.
A new receiver will not make your speakers sound better but new speakers may make your receiver sound better. Infinity offers Kappa center and surrounds that may still be available. The 8.1 may be 4 ohm speakers.
