Hi all
I was wondering if someone could help me out here. Im little confused.(newbie to this stuff)

I have just got XBOX 360 which comes with a Component HD AV Cable + has a HDMI connector .
I want to be able to have 5.1 sounds from my Onkyo TX-SR605 .
They all sit in my TV Cabinet less than 2m between every thing. The TV is old 29" CRT at moment.

questions .
1) Is buying digital cable or HDMI cable the best way to get Dolby 5.1 sounds ??

2) Digital cable , can i use optical (toslink) or coaxial audio , any differences between them ????

hope this makes sense
thank you for any help
Billy

Because of the TV I am going to recommend Video from the X-BOX directly to the TV and using an optical wire from the XBOX break out cable to the receiver for sound. You may need to activate the digital out put on the XBOX and assign the optical in on the Onkyo. If you had a TV with HDMI in then you would use the HDMI on the Onkyo.

You must use a optical (toslink) there is no choice with Xbox
