Cat5 Cable Use For Audio

I am currently wiring my home theatre. My equipment is housed in a seperate room with cable runs of about 45 feet. I have wired speaker runs with Monster Cable 12 AWG in-wall cable (I have had very good luck with this product in the past). I now need to run the sub connection (as the sub will be in the viewing area).

My question is this: Has anyone used CAT5 to deliver a signal from a source to a powered sub? My alternative is to simply use a DIY sub cable using coax and RCA type terminates.

Thanks for any help.

No, but I can say that (since I have it lying around) I've used CAT5 to wire all my speakers to my receivers (both) and it works just fine.

I don't see why you can't use it to run your source to your sub.
