A/V Setup Question

I just purchased a sony A/V receiver and plan to integrate it with my Sony HDTV. For some time I won't be using a satelite or cable box and will be getting my signal from the coaxial cable from the wall. I was wondering if this coax cable should first be wired to: 1) the A/V receiver (don't see a coax threaded input; or 2) the TV and then have the audio sent to the A/V receiver. The TV does have the threaded coax input. I assume that when I get satellite TV the HDMI cable will first go to the A/V receiver and then to the TV, but I don't have that option yet and am stuck with the threaded coax cable from the wall. Any advice? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Yes, I have advice! If the Tv has fixed audio outputs (digital or analong) hook the coax to the Tv and run the audio output to the receiver, whether it be an optical cable, a digital coax, or analong RCA.
