Hey eveyone, ive recently bought a new dvd player and surround sound system. But i want to connect my pc to it and still get the 5.1 surround sound. It has no optical input, it only has a right and left audio input and a 3.5mm stero jack on the front.

As far as i know 3.5mm stereo jacks only do 2 channels of audio right? not 5.. so that wont work from pc will it? I have no idea what to do now, and have been racking ma brains all week.

The only option i can think of is to get new connections on the ends of the cables from my surround speakers and connect them directly into my pc sound card?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

if you have only left and right analog plugins , bad news man, theres really nothing you can do to get a true 5.1 surround. sony is pretty good on simulating from a left , right, plug in. as far as getting true 5.1 your sol. good news is htpc (home theatre p c ) is becoming more popular, might be something to look into if you want to use your pc as a processor for you home theatre.
