OLD Sony receiver--Center Speaker??

I was given an old Sony receiver, circa 1991, dolby pro-logic era. The manual says to connect the monitor out jacks to the TV audio in jacks to serve as the center speaker. Everything I've tried tells me that those jacks are not functioning--no sound. So I have the TV connected to the tape out jacks, which provides sound, but does not serve as the center speaker for dolby movies.

Is there a way to connect another speaker to serve as a center speaker. There is no center speaker "out" per se. The speaker plugs in the back are L&R A, L&R B, surround L&R, and DNLC L&R--which is some function that allows you to add speakers to another room for seperate listening. Where in all of that can I add the center speaker.

Any help greatly apprecieated in advance!!
