Combine surround amplifier with stereo amplifier

I have bought a LG DVD player with an integrated surround 5.1 amplifier (all in one box) (= my "5.1 system")

I also have a HiFi Stereo system, incl. a analog amplifier (Lua 6060) and "good" loudspeakers (Sehring 603) (= my "stereo system")

Now I want to combine my "5.1 system" and my "stereo system".

I thought to put the front left speaker (or center) and front right speaker (or center) onto my "stereo system". (I cannot connect my "good" loadspeakers directly to 5.1. amplifier because I want to continue to use them within my "stereo system".).

Is it possible to combine these two systems? can I connect a low wattage 5.1 amplifier output to inputs on my stereo amplifier (say on Aux/Tape) without fear of damage? should I get "voltage reducers" to protect the stereo amplifier?

please point me to a hands-on site with a solution for this problem (if known).

thanks in advance for your advise!

Karl
