Pioneer surround sound

When I play a DVD movie I get video and music but no voices. Everything is hooked up properly. It's only 2 years old. No fuses are blown.I hooked up my son's Surround sound receiver/amp and it workd fine. Does anyone have any ideas. Someone told me about a Pscan. Could I do this to resolve this problem? Mongoose1

I am gathering this receiver is a combo with DVD? If so then unhook from the TV as you do not want sound from the tv, but your receiver system. If you have a separate DVD make sure the red and white (CoAx or Optical is better)are connect to receiver if that is where want the sound to come from.
