I just bought a 5.1 theater system and I not sure how to hook everything up correctly. First, I have an HDTV with 1 optical out. My DVD player is connected via HDMI cable, but also has an optical out. My gaming consol has 1 optical out. Lastly the sub that powers all the other speakers has 2 optical ins. One input on the sub will be for my gaming consol, the other input I am not so sure about. Does the DVD player have to be connected by optical cable to the sub for use when watching movies, or can I run one optical cable from the TV optical out to the sub, since the DVD is connected by HDMI. Does the HDMI cable carry a "surround signal" which goes to the TV optical out, or will movies not come through in surround that way?
