I bought the Yamaha rx-v1500, providing 7.1, THX. I do not find many 7.1 speakerset (they are almost all 5.1, 6.1), any suggestions? given:
- price +/-1250euro
- no floor standing speakers in front
- although home theater use, music (read sound quality) very important

I thought about Bose Acoustimass16? ...however, dont know if I can connect everything straight to amplifier (instead of to acoustimass module) & add Bose VCS-10 center channel speaker, which allows me to combine front&rear satelite into back-rear surround L&R, creating 7.1 instead of 6.1

You don't need to have a complete set. Just get an extra pair of bookshelf speakers like the Polk Audio R15 to use as either the front ambient L/R or the rear surround L/R.

Keep in mind that the RXV-1500 is not full 7.1, it can either play the front ambient or the rear surround but not at the same time. In short, sounds rarely come through these speakers and the speakers do not need to be of premium quality.

Don't use the Bose. You will have trouble hooking it up, especially the bass module...Check out the Hsu Research Ventroloquist speaker set.

Check out www.orbaudio.com. Way better than the Bose and less expensive.
